My roommate Sarah/Ky Muk/Som Biiow (all of her names…take your pick of what you would like to remember her as =) ) departed for Wisconsin on July 1st. Yes this was a sad day of packing her up and sending her off. Now she is doing her debrief in Georgia. Then she will go home to Wisconsin to see her family. A month after that, she will be in Washington attending Moody in a field similar to Social Work. She is praying about the possibility of doing long term overseas missions. =)
But, now that you know a bit about her future plans, let me share with you about her farewell evening. This was a night, where everyone who knew Sarah got to come together in celebration of her. Rhianna and I made different desserts for the event. We had a slide show of Sarah’s year here, played games, socialized, and many came up and shared about what a blessing Sarah has been to them personally. Some of our teammates sang special songs for her as well!
P’Kieow, P’Yu, and I each got up and shared as Sarah’s family (We all live together). Of course we all cried and we gave Sarah two framed pictures of us as a family. I will post those on this blog for you to see. One is us at Christmas and one is of us sitting around our table eating dinner together. Sarah is our sister. On one hand it is hard having her leave home so soon and on the other hand we are super excited to watch as God grows her and molds her in this next chapter of life =)
